Rain Garden Education & Plantings, Detroit

Hands-on learning opportunities while helping to protect the Rouge and Detroit Rivers

Volunteers are needed to help create 8 rain gardens in Detroit as part of the Rain Gardens to the Rescue program. The rain garden installations are the culmination of the Rain Gardens to the Rescue program. After attending a series of workshops where they learned about rain gardens, native plants, rain garden design and maintenance, stormwater pollution and economic costs to the community, participants receive a rain garden of their own. The rain gardens bring neighbors together and provide an opportunity for graduates to share what they have learned with others in the community.
