Gerry Wykes wrote and illustrated A Beaver Tale: The Castors of Conners Creek, a book being published by Wayne State University Press in March.

The book is about the beaver in Michigan and how a family of beavers returned to the Detroit River after a 150 year absence.  His June 9 presentation will cover the story and the ecological revival of the river. It will also put us up close and personal with Castor canadensis, the beaver.

An Interpretive American and a Renaissance man, Gerry Wykes educates with humor and stories combining natural science with regional history and geography. Retired curator and supervising interpreter of the Lake Erie Marshlands Museum and Nature Center, Gerry is the author of Naturespeak: A Naturalist's View of the World, http://www.blogsmonroe.com/nature/ and a contributor to Michigan History magazine. He will sell and sign copies of his new book at the meeting.
